1-Day Forged "Field Knife" Workshop
1-Day Forged "Field Knife" Workshop
Forge your own full tang field knife in a focused, one-day experience built around real use.
This workshop is designed for those who want a rugged, hard-working blade. It is something that feels at home in the field, at camp, or wherever a reliable tool matters.
You will start with high-carbon steel and learn how to shape, refine, and bring your blade to life through heat and hammer. The process is guided and structured, but hands-on. You are doing the work, not watching it.
The knife you create is compact, durable, and purpose-built. Full tang construction gives it strength and balance, while the profile is designed for practical use over show.
Final heat treatment and handle finishing are completed in-shop after the workshop to ensure a clean, durable result that holds up over time. Your finished knife will be ready for pickup or shipping within approximately two weeks.
Optional Add-On
Custom Kydex Sheath (+$100)
Complete your knife with a custom-molded Kydex sheath, built for secure carry and everyday use.

It was a very fun and informative session would definitely refer people if they are looking for something a little different to do, and take home a piece you can tell people you made
Lyon was very helpful and he explained the process very well, on top of being a great guy.
I fully recommend this to anyone who is interested in bladesmithing.
Oldboy Metal was an amazing experience from start to finish. Lyon is an incredible teacher. Patient, funny, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He explains each step clearly and makes the whole process approachable, whether you are new to knife making or have some experience.
I learned so much and had a great time doing it. I could not be happier with how my new knife turned out. It is both beautiful and functional, and I am proud to use it. Highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in learning the craft and walking away with something truly special.
I went into the class with the preconception that we would be working on a structured program with limited inputs for the knife we could make. This was immediately changed and with Lyon’s excellent guidance we ended up making a really awesome cleaver inspired parring knife. While not necessary as there were a lot of options for handle material provided. I was also able to bring in an off cut of a piece of ebony hardwood to make it extra custom.
What a great adventure this was. I got it for my son for his birthday.
The first night we started off with a small piece of metal, heated it and forged it into the shaoe we had decided on. Lyon explained each process we were taking the metal to. We heated it up and pounded it out. So exciting.
The second time we went was to do the fine finishing, grind, polish, make the handle and put the finishing touches on it.
This has truly been a great experience.
If you ever wondered where your knives came from....you need to do this.
Can't wait to see OLDBOY METAL CO. at the One of Kind Show in Toronto April 9-12 to see what exciting new designs he has come up with.
